No. 71 Men's Tennis Picks Up Senior Day Victory Over Brown

HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 71 Dartmouth men's tennis team split its weekend, falling to No. 38 Yale on the road before closing out its final home match of the season with a 5-2 senior day victory over Brown.
On Friday against the Bulldogs, the Big Green found early momentum in doubles, claiming the point with victories on courts two and three. Malhar Patel and Adrian Treacy captured a 6-3 win over Yale's Shuler and Tsoi, while Kornel Halmos and Denny Bao dominated their match, 6-1, against Eric Li and Jim Ji. The match on court one, featuring Miles Groom and Henry Ren, went unfinished with Dartmouth leading 5-3.
In singles, Yale responded by taking four matches to clinch a 4-1 victory. No. 29 Gogineni defeated Ren in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, while Groom fell, 6-4, 6-2. Halmos battled on court three but fell 6-4, 6-3 to Shuler, and Tsoi secured another point for the Bulldogs with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Leo Pade.
Back at Boss Tennis Center, the Big Green set the tone early on Sunday by claiming the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. The No. 69-ranked pairing of Ren and Groom battled through a tight tiebreak to defeat Ivan Sodan and Elliot Wasserman, 7-6 (7-2), while Patel and Treacy added a 6-3 victory over Noah Hernandez and Zander Bravo. Brown picked up a win on court three, as Cole Oberg and Lukas Phimvongsa defeated Halmos and Bao, 6-3.
Dartmouth responded after dropping the top spot in singles, where Sodan defeated Ren, 6-1, 6-2. Groom evened things up with a decisive 6-3, 6-1 win over Phimvongsa. Treacy earned a hard-fought three-set victory over Robert Yang, taking the match in a 10-7 tiebreak after splitting the first two sets. Pade followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Wasserman, and Bao sealed the team victory with a 6-3, 6-2 result over Alex Koong. Brown's Hernandez picked up its second point with a three-set win over Halmos, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
The Big Green will be back in action Saturday when traveling to face Cornell at 1 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. meeting with Columbia on Sunday in New York City.
