DALLAS, Texas – The No. 35 Dartmouth men's tennis team opened its busy Spring Break schedule on Thursday by defeating Midwestern State, 7-0, at the SMU Tennis Complex.
The Big Green won its sixth straight match and improved to 11-4 on the season, while the Mustangs had their four-match winning streak cut short and dipped to 6-2.
Dartmouth won two of the three doubles matches before taking all six singles contests to end the afternoon. First to finish were junior George Wall and senior Brendan Tannenbaum, who defeated Zack Santagate and Dillon Pineda, 6-1, at No. 2. Senior Dovydas Sakinis and freshman Roko Glasnovic followed that up with a 6-3 victory over Kyle Davidson and Ramon Toyos at the No. 1 position.
In singles action, Wall and Sakinis picked up two more wins for the Green at the No. 4 and 1 spots, while sophomore Ciro Riccardi clinched the win at the No. 2 position by defeating Toyos, 6-4, 6-3.
Freshman Eddie Grabill took down Pineda at No. 6 by scores of 6-2, 6-4 and sophomore Max Fliegner had a 6-2, 7-5 win over Radu Popa. Glasnovic wrapped up the day at No. 5 with a three-set victory over Chris Norrie.
On Saturday, March 19, Dartmouth will take on No. 44 SMU at 5:30 p.m.
