THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth men's hockey team is on the road for a pair of ECAC Hockey and Ivy League games this weekend, taking on Yale and Brown.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green earned a weekend split with No. 1 Quinnipiac and Princeton at home last weekend, falling to the Bobcats, 7-5, after a third-period comeback from the visitors erased two three-goal deficits in the frame. Dartmouth bounced back with a 2-0 shutout of Princeton the following night in front a sellout crowd of 4,050 fans.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior Jack Barre was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week for the second time in 14 days following the weekend with the Bobcats and Tigers. Barre led all league players in points (4) and goals (3) this weekend after a two-goal, three-point night against QU and another score the next evening against Princeton.

RANKINGS
The Big Green appeared in the USCHO Poll's top-20 for the first time in three years with its appearance at No. 20 on Monday afternoon. The Big Green are receiving votes in the 15-team USA Hockey poll as well, putting them 18th overall in that release. In the Pairwise Rankings, the Green are tied for 15th with Cornell.
JACK RILEY
Dartmouth hockey was saddened to hear the news that former captain and legendary coach Jack Riley '44 passed away Wednesday afternoon. Riley served as team captain in 1946-47 before he went on to play for the United States in the 1948 Olympics and coach the Americans to their first-ever gold in 1960. He was the head coach at Army for 36 seasons, retiring as the second-winningest coach in NCAA history with 542 career victories.

SCOUTING YALE
The Bulldogs are 11th in both national polls this week after splitting with Union (L, 2-1) and Rensselaer (W, 3-0) last weekend. Overall, Yale is 12-5-4 with a 7-4-3 ECAC Hockey record, putting them fourth in the league standings with 17 points, one more than Dartmouth. Joe Snively and Stu Wilson are tied for the team lead in points with 16 each, while John Hayden leads the way in goals with 10. In goal, junior Alex Lyon has been one of the best netminders in the nation this season with a 1.56 goals against average and a .940 save percentage, both of which rank second nationally.
SCOUTING BROWN
The Bears are coming off a 3-1 loss Tuesday night against UConn at the XL Center in Hartford thanks to a Huskies goal with 1:38 left in regulation. The loss dropped Brown to 4-14-4 overall, while a 4-3 loss to RPI and a 2-2 tie with Union has the Bears 2-10-3 in league games and in 12th place. Senior Nick Lappin reached 100 career points against the Dutchmen on Saturday and added the team's lone goal at UConn. Lappin leads the team in goals (13), assists (15) and points (28) this season, while fourth in the league in scoring.
AGAINST THESE TEAMS
The Big Green split a home series against these two back in early November.
● Dartmouth earned its first win of the season with a 7-3 victory against Brown back on Nov. 6. The Bears led, 2-1, after the first period but six goals in the final two stanzas helped the home team to the triumph. Jack Barre and Nick Bligh both had a pair of goals, while Troy Crema notched a career-high four assists in the contest.
● Yale bested the Green, 4-2, the following night thanks to two goal reviews in the third period that went in their favor. Ryan Hitchcock's goal was not deemed to be hit with a high stick with 6:55 remaining, proving to be the game winner. Corey Kalk appeared to tie the game minutes later, but he was deemed to have purposefully directed the puck into the net with his skate, negating the score. The Elis hit the empty net in the final minutes for the insurance marker.
JANUARY WAS FUN!
The Big Green finished the month of January with an 8-2-0 record, tying St. Cloud State for the most wins in that time. The Big Green entered the month with a 3-7-1 first-half record, but managed to turn it around with a Ledyard Classic championship and three shutouts against Merrimack, No. 10 Cornell and, most recently, Princeton this past weekend.
WHAT'S UP, CHUCK?
Senior Charles Grant turned in a 37-save banking of the Tigers at home on Friday for his third shutout of the month and the fifth of his career. January was good for Grant who led the nation in wins (8) and shutouts (3), while sixth in save percentage (.943) and eighth in goals against average (1.61). he was twice named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week in January as well.
EVERYONE'S SCORING!
Freshman John Ernsting got his first career goal early in the third period of Friday's game with the Bobcats. With Ernsting's marker, all but two of Dartmouth's 18 skaters dressed for Saturday night's game with Princeton had registered a goal this year. Senior defensemen Ryan Bullock and Geoff Ferguson remain the two holdouts looking for their first tallies of 2015-16.
CARL! SO GOOD TO SEE YOU!
Sophomore Carl Hesler continues to shine in his second season in Hanover. After a two-point weekend, Hesler is second on the team in scoring with 14 points on seven goals and seven assists.
CAREER WEEKEND
Sophomore Kevin Neiley had himself a career night with three assists against QU on Friday. The Warminster, Pennsylvania, native entered the weekend with just four points in his career, a figure he would nearly eclipse in the first game of the weekend. Neiley matched it with an assist on Barre's goal in the second period against Princeton on Saturday.
100 GAMES PLAYED
Tim O'Brien became the 93rd player in program history to reach the 100 games played mark when he suited up vs. Quinnipiac. This weekend, three seniors are set to join him as — barring any unforeseen circumstances — as Ryan Bullock and Jack Barre both have 99 games under their belt and should reach the milestone against Yale. Brett Patterson has 98 games played to his credit and will likely reach 100 Saturday at Brown.
