Whitehorn and the other 15 competitors in the high jump will get things started Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Birmingham CrossPlex as Samford University serves as the host institution.
“The coaches are all hoping Kaitlin can repeat her All-American performance from last spring. Her confidence is high after winning Heps and setting a new school record,” The Herbert and Marjorie Chase '30 Director of Track & Field Barry Harwick '77 said. “We look forward to being able to watch her jump Saturday on ESPN3.”
Whitehorn was a Second-Team All-American during the 2015 outdoor season as she cleared 5-9.75/1.77m to tie for 12th place at Oregon's Hayward Field.
This year marks the first time Whitehorn will head to nationals during indoor season on the new school record and a third Ivy League title in the event at the conference championship meet two weeks ago. The senior cleared 6-0.5/1.84m on her third attempt at the height at Cornell's Barton Hall to not only win her third Heps indoor crown in the event but also best her own previous school record of 1.80m set as a junior.
Heading into the meet, Whitehorn ranks 12th nationally.
Coverage of the meet begins on ESPN3 Saturday at 4:55 p.m.
