THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
The Dartmouth softball team (2-7) continues its non-conference schedule with a trip to the West Coast to compete in the Santa Clara Round Robin Tournament.
SCOUTING THE GAELS
Iona is off to a 4-6 start to begin the 2016 season. The Gaels struggled in their first tournament in North Carolina, winning just one game against Youngstown State. Iona saw improvement on the the diamond, taking three of five in the USF Under Armor Invitational in Clearwater, Florida. Freshman Marisa Gergel leads the Gaels with 10 hits on the season and is having a fantastic rookie campaign. Senior Christine Costello has also found success at the plate, batting .375 with nine hits and a team-best six RBIs. Iona is deep in the circle as three pitchers each have one win a piece.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING HAWKS
Out of the Big Sky Conference, North Dakota is currently 5-18 after facing some adversity this season. Recently, the Hawks were swept in the USF Under Armor Invitational after winning two games in the Georgia Southern Eagle Classic against Eastern Kentucky and Harvard. North Dakota's offense is led by Shelby Hard who is tied for a team-best 19 hits and leads the Hawks with 10 RBIs and four home runs. In the circle, Kaylin VanDomelen is 4-8 with an ERA of 3.22 in 13 appearances.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
The host school, Santa Clara has just one win in its last 10 games and has been outscored 37-13 in its last four games. Despite the slow start, senior Casandra Padilla is having a great final season, leading the team with 21 hits, two homers and 15 RBIs. Sophomore Justine Garner is also having a solid season for the Broncos with 16 hits, including five doubles.
SCOUTING THE ROAD RUNNERS
CSU Bakersfield has lost seven of its last eight games and is 4-13 on the season overall. Recently the Road Runners dropped a 2-1 decision to San Diego State before falling 5-4 to Webber State. Two players in particular have been on the bats as of late for CSU Bakersfield, as Julea Cavazos leads the team with 19 hits, while Sydney Raeber is not far behind with 17. Raeber also leads her squad with 7 RBIs. In the circle, Amber Mills is 2-4, with a team best 3.35 ERA.
MAKING AN IMPACT EARLY
Freshman Morgan Martinelli has made her presence known on the diamond in her rookie season with the Big Green. She currently leads the team in hits with nine, including a team-best three doubles.
IT'S OUTTA HERE
Senior Katie McEachern has been a scoring threat for Dartmouth all season. She is currently tied for first in the Ivy League with three home runs, which includes a grand slam against South Alabama that helped propel her team to victory.
SUCCESS IN THE CIRCLE
With a 2-3 record in five starts, senior Morgan McCalmon has been the Big Green's top pitcher this season. In 22 innings of work, McCalmon has struck out 23 batters and walked only 10.
