MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Dartmouth men's track & field team opened the 2016 outdoor season at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational XX at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
The meet is non-scoring.
The highlight of the day was freshman Ben Ose winning the decathlon with 6,685 points. Ose took the top spot in the 110-meter hurdles (15.69), discus (120-1.0/36.60m) and the pole vault (14-5.25m/4.40m) on the final day to catapult into first.
Jacob Shippee was seventh in the javelin with a throw of 209-8.0/63.91m on his first toss of the day, while Corey Muggler boasted a 21-1.0/7.34m in the seeded long jump that placed the junior fourth in a field of 28.
Freshman Parker Johnson was ninth in the preliminaries of the 100m hurdles, running a 14.59 and just missing out on the final qualifying bid.
