THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
The Dartmouth softball team opens up Ivy League play with doubleheaders against Princeton on Friday and Cornell on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a successful West Coast road trip where Dartmouth ended the nonconference portion of its schedule winning eight of its last nine games.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton finished the non-conference portion of its schedule with a win over Rider to improve to 6-17 on the season. Prior to that game, the Tigers snapped an 11 game losing streak with a weekend sweep of Colgate on March 26. Junior Marissa Reynolds leads Princeton's offense with 17 hits, including a team-high four doubles and .276 batting average. In the circle sophomore Ashley La Guardia is 3-3 with team-best 3.82 ERA in 13 appearances.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell has struggled in the first half of the season with a 3-13 mark on the year. Recently, the Big Red swept George Washington after tallying just one win in its previous 12 games. However, on Wednesday Cornell dropped two games to Marist as the Big Red were outscored 15-3 between the two games. Despite the team's struggles, Meg Parker is having a solid senior year in Ithaca. She currently leads the team in RBIs (12) homeruns (4) and batting average (.396). Parker has also started seven games in the circle with a 1-4 record in 29 innings of work.
SHE'S A HIT
Senior Katie McEachern has been one of the Big Green's top performers at the plate this season. McEachern is currently on a nine game hitting streak her longest since last year's 18 game hit streak. She also leads Dartmouth in home runs with four, which is the third most among the Ancient Eight teams.
IN THE CIRCLE
As of late the Big Green have been getting solid production from their pitching staff. While senior Morgan McCalmon leads the team with a 7-3 record, sophomore Breanna Ethridge is quietly having a spectacular season in the circle. She is currently second in the Ivy League with a 2.36 ERA and is tied for first with McCalmon for saves (3). Meanwhile McCalmon is second among the Ancient Eight with 57 strikeouts in 13 appearances.
