HANOVER, N.H. — The United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) announced its all-district teams for the 2015-16 season, and Dartmouth freshman
Evan Boudreaux was among the 10 players selected for District I, which consists of student-athletes from the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Boudreaux, a native of Lake Forest, Illinois, began the year in the starting lineup and starred immediately for the 10-18 Big Green, scoring 25 points in the season opener at Seton Hall. He went on to lead the team in scoring 19 times while reaching double figures in 24 of his 27 games (topping 20 on 10 occasions) with a high of 27 points at The Palestra against the Penn Quakers on Feb. 5. With a 17.7-point scoring average for the season, Boudreaux ranks second in the Ivy League and is one of two freshmen this year to break the conference freshman record of 17.0 ppg set in 1999-2000 by Brown's Earl Hunt.
While an adept scorer, Boudreaux was also a rebounding machine, ranking third in the Ivy League at 9.4 per game with a season high of 18 at Cornell, the most by a Big Green player in 17 years. His 10.8 average in conference games easily led the loop, to go with his conference scoring average of 20.2 points. He is also one of just two freshmen nationally to post averages of at least 17 points and nine rebounds, the other being Ben Simmons of LSU.
Boudreaux is the first Dartmouth player in 23 years to record 10 double-doubles in a season, and he tied an Ivy League Record by being named the Rookie of the Week a total of eight times. Only one other Big Green player in the last 40 years averaged as many as nine rebounds a game, and he set Dartmouth freshman records in points (478), scoring average, rebounds (254) and rebound average among others.
Boudreaux is the only Ivy Leaguer to be selected to an all-district team this year, though Yale head coach
James Jones was chosen as the District I Coach of the Year.
