TUESDAY'S GAMES
After completing its second consecutive Ivy League weekend sweep, the Dartmouth softball team will play its final non-conference game of the regular season when the Big Green host UMass Lowell for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
LAST TIME OUT
On Saturday, Dartmouth defeated Columbia 7-0 before taking down the Lions 12-2 in five innings. In Game 1, senior Morgan McCalmon picked up her 11th victory of the season in six innings of work with five strikeouts. The Big Green scored three runs in the first before plating three in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth en route to the 7-0 win. Game 2 also went Dartmouth's way as the Big Green bats exploded for 13 hits. Senior Katie McEachern had a stellar day at the plate with a triple, two-run home run and three-run homer.
SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS
UMass Lowell has seen its struggles this season as the River Hawks have just five wins and have lost eight of their last nine games. At the plate, junior Alisha Welch has been solid with 32 hits and a team-high 17 RBIs and six doubles. Meanwhile, junior Tori Alcorn leads the River Hawks in hits with 33 with two homers. In the circle, freshman Sydney Wash and freshman Kaysee Talcik each have two wins, while Wash has a team-best 2.88 ERA.
LEADERS OF THE PACK
Dartmouth is the only undefeated team left in Ivy League play at 8-0, as the Big Green sit atop the North Division standings. Ancient Eight foe Harvard is behind Dartmouth at 6-2, followed by Brown and Yale. Princeton leads the South Division at 4-4 while Penn and Columbia are tied for second at 2-6.
RISING IN THE RANKINGS
The Big Green are currently leading the Ivy League in four batting categories including runs (148), triples (10), home runs (18) and RBIs (136).
SHE'S A HIT!
McEachern is having a fantastic senior campaign in Hanover this year. She leads the team and conference in home runs with nine and is batting .446 with 37 hits in 28 games. Last weekend her hitting streak came to an end at 15 games, which is the longest of any Dartmouth player this season. The San Diego, California native has reached base in all 28 games this season and has recorded 11 multi-hit games.
IN THE CIRCLE
McCalmon has emerged as the Big Green's ace with a league leading 11 wins and is second in the conference in strikeouts (80) and saves (3). Sophomore Breanna Ethridge is also having a solid year with team-best 2.21 ERA in 16 appearances. She also leads the Ivy League with four saves.
