HANOVER, N.H. – No. 49 Dartmouth women's tennis picked up its first Ivy League win on Saturday with a 6-1 defeat of Cornell at the Boss Tennis Center.
The Big Green are now 10-4 overall and 1-1 in conference action, while the Big Red – who took down Harvard on Friday – fell to 12-7 and 1-2.
At No. 1 doubles, junior Taylor Ng and sophomore Kristina Mathis had a 6-1 win over Marika Cusick and Lizzie Stewart, while senior Katherine Yau and sophomore Julia Schroeder had a 6-4 victory over Alexandra D'Ascenzo and Priyanka Shah at No. 2 to put Dartmouth up by one.
Cornell's lone point of the day came at the No. 6 singles position, but a 6-1, 6-4 win by Yau at No. 2 made it 2-1 in favor of the home team. Junior Jacqueline Crawford defeated Mariko Iinuma, 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 4 position and Ng took down D'Ascenzo, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 1 to clinch the win. With a 4-1 lead, three-set victories by Mathis at No. 3 and Schroeder at No. 5 ended the match.
