HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 52 Dartmouth women's tennis team heads out for a pair of conference matches on the road, facing No. 61 Princeton on Saturday and No. 74 Penn the following afternoon.
The Big Green (10-4, 1-1 Ivy League) opened conference play last weekend at home, ending the weekend with a record of 1-1 following a 6-1 loss to No. 37 Columbia and a win of the same score against Cornell the next day. Senior Katherine Yau picked up Dartmouth's lone point against the Lions, winning at No. 2 singles by scores of 6-4, 6-3. Junior Taylor Ng and sophomore Kristina Mathis remain highly ranked in doubles play, sitting at No. 18.
Princeton (10-8, 2-1 Ivy League) opened the spring season in the national rankings, but after a few weeks, dropped off the list completely. The Tigers returned to the list at the start of Ivy play and are currently No. 61. Princeton is already three matches deep against conference opponents, defeating Penn and Yale by scores of 5-2 and falling to Brown, 4-3.
Penn (8-7, 1-2 Ivy League) had back-to-back losses to Princeton (5-2) and Yale (4-3) before taking down Brown (4-3) to start Ivy play. A bright spot for the Quakers are Sonya Latycheva and Kana Daniel, who play together at No. 1 doubles and have been undefeated for the past five matches.
Dartmouth will face Brown in its final road match of the regular season, playing at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 15. The Green will return to the Boss Tennis Center to face Yale and Harvard on April 17 and 23.
