THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
The Dartmouth softball team looks to remain undefeated in Ivy League play when the Big Green play host to Yale in a four-game series, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth is coming off another weekend sweep of a conference opponent when the Big Green dispensed Brown in Providence. After defeating the Bears 7-2 and 4-1 last Saturday, Dartmouth followed up with a 2-1 and 4-2 victory on Sunday. Senior Katie McEachern had a solid weekend in the Ocean State, batting .500 with seven hits and three RBIs in the four-game series.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale has lost five of its last six games after the Bulldogs dropped three of four to Ivy League rival Harvard. Yale found some success earlier in conference play, splitting series with Columbia, Penn and sweeping both games against Cornell. Senior Brittany Labbadia leads the Bulldogs with 35 hits and also possesses speed on the base paths with 15 stolen bases. Sophomore Allison Skinner has also had a solid year with 30 hits and a team-high 17 RBIs. In the circle Lindsay Efflandt is the team's top pitcher at 5-11 posting a 3.53 ERA.
STILL LEADING THE PACK
The Big Green are the only undefeated team left in Ivy League play at 10-0, sitting atop the North Division standings. The Crimson are behind Dartmouth in second, followed by Brown and Yale. Princeton leads the South Division at 7-5, while Columbia is second at 4-8 and Penn sits in third at 3-9.
RISING IN THE RANKINGS
The Big Green are currently leading the Ivy League in four hitting categories including runs (176), triples (12), on base percentage (.368) and RBIs (159).
IN THE CIRCLE
McCalmon has emerged as Dartmouth's ace with a league-leading 14 wins and is second in the conference in strikeouts (92) and saves (3). Sophomore Breanna Ethridge is also having a solid year with a team-best 1.95 ERA in 19 appearances. She also leads the Ivy League with five saves. As a team, the Big Green lead the Ancient Eight with a league-best 2.82 ERA.
CHASING HISTORY
Dartmouth is looking to become the first team to finish the season undefeated in conference play since Harvard accomplished the feat in 1998. Back then, the Ivy League slate was only 12 games before the schedule expanded to 14 games in 2001.
KEEP CALM
McCalmon is just one win away from tying Kristen Rumley's 15-win season from a year ago when Rumley took home Pitcher of the Year honors. McCalmon needs just four more wins to tie Rumley's 18-win season in 2014 for third on the Big Green's all-time season wins list.
FRESHMAN IMPACT
Morgan Martinelli is having a fantastic rookie season in Hanover. Last week she captured her second Ivy League Rookie of the Week award and has currently reached base in 18 consecutive games. Martinelli is batting .423 with team-best 10 doubles and 21 RBIs.
