GREENWICH, Conn. – After shooting a combined 325 (+33), the Dartmouth women's golf team is in fifth place at the 2016 Ivy League Women's Golf Championship at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Four-time defending champion, Harvard leads the field with a combined team score of 302 (+10) while Princeton is just eight strokes behind at 310 (+18), followed by Yale (313, +21) and Columbia (318, +26).
The Ivy League Championship teed off at 10 a.m. at the par-73 golf course where freshman Julia Calbi turned in the best performance of the opening round for the Big Green, shooting 78 (+5) good for a tie for 18th overall. The South Barrington, Illinois native did well on the final four holes of the front nine with consecutive pars. After bogeying holes 11 and 12, she rebounded nicely with back-to-back birdies on 13 and 14.
Sophomore Jessica Kittelberger faced some struggles on the front nine, but rallied on the back nine with an eagle on 11 and birdie on 12. She finished the day with a 79 (+6) in a six-way tie for 10th.
Isabelle Kane pared 10 holes, shooting an 82 and is in a five-way tie for 20th. Freshman Catharine Roddy shot an 86 for 32nd and sophomore Radi Sauro is tied for 33rd after shooting an 87.
Round two of the 2016 Ivy League Women's Golf Championship will continue tomorrow at 10 a.m.
