HANOVER, N.H. – Head volleyball coach Gilad Doron has announced the hiring of Tara Hittle as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2016-17 season. Hittle played at both the Division I and professional levels and brings club and high school coaching experience to the Big Green program.
“I am very excited to add Tara to our coaching staff and welcome her to our Big Green family,” Doron said. “Tara has played at the top of the NCAA Division I level as well as internationally. She brings dedication and desire to be the best and learn, along with great passion for the sport of volleyball.”
Hittle has spent the majority of her career in Colorado, where she was most recently serving as the Colorado Juniors Volleyball Club Coach. In her five years at the helm, she led her team to a Crossroads title twice (2015, 2016) and a second-place finish at the 2016 National Tournament.
Prior to that, she coached at Valor Christian High School (2014-15) and Doherty High School (2011-14). While at Doherty, the team was crowned state champion, received the Army National Guard Tour of Champions Award and she was named the Colorado Coach of the Year, all in 2012. During this time, she was also a physical education and a health teacher (2012-14).
Hittle graduated from the University of Hawaii in 2009 with a degree in physical education and health. While there, she was a two-sport athlete, participating in both volleyball and basketball. She remains in the all-time record books for volleyball in career digs (4th; 1,315) and digs per game (7th; 2.83). She was also a four-time letter winner.
After leaving Hawaii, Hittle went on to play professionally for the Volleyball Franches-Montagnes in Switzerland for the 2010-11 season.
