THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth field hockey team will play a pair of games this weekend, taking on Brown Saturday (12 p.m.) at home before a Sunday (2 p.m.) game at Northeastern.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a 4-0 loss at Princeton last Saturday afternoon in the Ivy League opener for both teams.
SCOUTING BROWN
The Bears make the trek to Hanover with a 4-2 overall mark in tow, while also sporting a 1-0 record in Ivy League games following a 3-2 overtime win last week at home against Columbia. Senior captain Katarina Angus scored the game-winning goal in overtime off a penalty corner against the Lions just six and a half minutes into the extra frame for her second of the year. Leading the way this season for Brown are Lucy Green and Ellie Seid, who both have three goals and one assist for a team-leading seven points. In goal, Katie Hammaker has been the goalkeeper of record in all six games and boasts a .705 save percentage and a 2.12 goals-against average.
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
Heading into the weekend, the Huskies are 5-4 overall, but have a conference road game at Drexel on Friday afternoon that will alter that mark prior to Sunday's tilt with the Big Green. June Curry-Lindahl leads the team with 14 points, sharing the goal-scoring lead with Jamie Bartucca as both have scored five times this season. No other player on the roster has more assists than Natalie Stewart's six thus far. Goalkeeper Becky Garner has a 2.21 goals-against average and a .733 save percentage in 635 minutes of play.
A LOT OF SAVES
Dartmouth's most untouchable record perhaps in any of the college's varsity programs is Lauren Demski's record for saves in a game. Demski stopped 36 vs. UConn on Sept. 16, 1992. However, the unreachable stature of that mark should not overshadow an impressive showing put forth by freshman keeper Emma Plumb at Princeton. Plum turned aside 15 shots in the game as the Tigers peppered the rookie with 19 shots on goal and 33 total attempts.
GOALS AGAINST THESE TEAMS
No one on the current Dartmouth roster has ever scored a goal against the Huskies in the previous three years. Against the Bears, Heather Zezzo is the lone player on the 2016 roster to have netted a marker, scoring in both the 2013 and 2014 contests. The goal in the 2013 contest at Brown was the first points of Zezzo's career. In fact, Zezzo's first two career goals came against Brown.
HUSKY BITTEN
The Green are looking for their first win against Northeastern since Oct. 10, 1987, when they beat the Huskies, 3-2. The Class of 2017 is looking for a reversal of fortune in their final game against Northeastern after losing their first three games by a combined 9-1 score.
