EW YORK – The Dartmouth women's track & field team ran at the site of this year's Ivy League Indoor Championship meet on Friday and left with an impressive team win.
Competing at The Armory in New York, the Big Green posted 96 points, defeating second-place Columbia (45) and third-place Yale (39) in a tri-meet between Ivy foes.
Once again, freshman Cha'Mai Rothwell was a double winner in the 60m (7.45) and the 60mH (8.54), picking up a combined 10 points for the team. The 7.45 run in the final of the 60m was another school record for the rookie as she now owns the top mark in both events in just over a month and a half on the team.
Additionally, Rothwell claimed another victory in the long jump with a leap of 19-9.0/6.20m, more than a foot better than the next-best competitor.
Dartmouth secured the top three spots in the pole vault with freshman Julia Valenti leading the way by clearing 3.65m on her second try at the height. Sophomore Amelia Ali was the top performer in the weight throw with her best mark measuring 16.87m.
The Green were dominant in the distance events as Helen Schlachtenhaufen won the mile (4:54.34) and Olivia Lantz claimed the top spot in the 3000m (9:52.19) with a narrow win at the line.
In the 500m, senior Aliyah Gallup (1:15.63) was the top runner with freshman Claire Dougherty (1:15.78) taking second.
The Green and White also took the first in the 4x400m relay, crossing in 3:54.82, while the second-place team was also from Dartmouth just over two seconds behind for another three points.
