NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Dartmouth field hockey team dropped an Ivy League game Saturday afternoon at Yale's Johnson Field, 5-2.

Carmen Braceras and Katie Persin each scored for the Big Green (4-7, 1-3 Ivy) in the loss, while the Bulldogs (7-5, 1-3 Ivy) were led by a hat trick from Carol Middough.

"We had some very positive surges in today's game, and will need a quick turnaround to make change in order to bounce back in tomorrow's game against a very strong Providence team," head coach Amy Fowler said. "It's always a positive when you have a back-to-back weekend, because we get to immediately right any wrongs and we get to build on what we did well!"

Middough and Lily Smith put the home team up 2-0 with goals in the eighth and 20th minute, respectively. Braceras answered back in the 33rd to help send the Green and White into intermission trailing only by a single goal, 2-1.

However, Middough pushed the lead back to two with her second of the day just 52 seconds into the final half. Persin's second of the year in the 47th minute cut back into the deficit, but only briefly as Camille Scheyer's third of the fall came 25 seconds later.

With just 4:19 showing on the clock, Middough put the game away with her third of the afternoon and 14th of the season to move the Elis in front by three, 5-2.

Dartmouth senior goalkeeper Emily Wechsler made five saves in her first collegiate appearance. At the other end of the field, Sydney Terroso stopped five in the winning effort.

In all, Yale held a 23-13 edge in shots, while the Big Green had seven corners to the Bulldogs' six.

Dartmouth is back in action on Sunday afternoon against visiting Providence at 1 p.m. in the start of a three-game homestand over the course of the next seven days.
