HANOVER, N.H. — With double-doubles in both games over the weekend, the second of which helped the Dartmouth men's basketball team earn its first conference victory of the season, forward
Evan Boudreaux was selected as the Ivy League co-Player of the Week today by the league office. He shared the honor with Princeton's Spencer Weisz, who played a big role in denying the Big Green a weekend sweep with 26 points in Friday night's game between the two.
On Friday, Boudreaux produced 21 points by knocking down 8-of-14 field goals, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc, while converting both free throw attempts in a hard-fought, 69-64 loss to the league-leading Tigers. The 6-8 sophomore from Lake Forest, Illinois, also hauled in 12 rebounds and handed out a pair of assists in 33 minutes on the court.
The following evening, Boudreaux hit 7-of-13 field goals as part of his 18 points, plus grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out three helpers to go with a blocked shot to fill up the stat sheet in Dartmouth's 74-71 triumph over visiting Penn. Ten of his 18 points came in the second half, with his last bucket coming with 1:39 remaining to boost the Big Green to five points at 70-65.
For the week, Boudreaux averaged 19.5 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 55.6 percent (15-of-27) from the floor and 37.5 percent (3-of-8) from long distance. The Ivy League's leading rebounder (9.4 rpg, 10.3 in Ivy games) has produced 10 double-doubles this season, with six coming in the last eight contests, and his 16.5 points per game rank second in the Ancient Eight.
This is Boudreaux's first career Player of the Week award, a year after tying a conference record by being selected the Ivy League Rookie of the Week eight times. He is the second Big Green player to earn top weekly honors, joining junior
Miles Wright (Dec. 19), who was also selected for the honor roll this week for averaging 16.0 points with eight three-pointers in the two games, including a game-high 19 points in the win.
Dartmouth returns to action on the road this weekend, beginning with a game at the defending Ivy League champion, Yale, on Friday night at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on both the Ivy League Digital Network and ESPN3.
