Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Jamie Susanin, Sr., Bryn Mawr, Pa., Women's Golf
Senior Jamie Susanin led a terrific effort by the women's golf team over the weekend in the Babs Steffens Invitational in DeLand, Florida to open the spring season. The native of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, finished the first round tied atop the leaderboard and ended the tournament in a tie for third with a five-over 221. The team broke 300 in each of its final two rounds and placed fourth among the 11 teams at 36-over par, just two strokes out of second place and one stroke behind the host, Stetson. Susanin recorded a dozen birdies over the three rounds, a total bested only by teammate Jessica Kittelberger (13).
Michael Danielak, Sr., Mt. Prospect, Ill., RHP, Baseball
Senior Michael Danielak pitched Dartmouth to a series-clinching victory over 26th-ranked Central Florida this past Saturday, hurling eight innings of one-run ball in the 4-1 triumph. The right-hander from Mt. Prospect, Illinois, surrendered just six hits and struck out eight without walking a batter to win his fourth game in as many starts this season, earning the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week honor as well. For the season Danielak is 4-0 with a 1.98 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 27.1 innings and ranks among the top five in the conference in wins (tied for first), strikeouts (third) and innings pitched (fourth).
