NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Dartmouth volleyball team fell to Yale in three sets, all by scores of 25-19, on the road Friday evening. The Big Green dipped to 6-10 overall and 2-4 in Ivy League play, while the Bulldogs improved to 11-4 and 5-1.

Sophomore
Elise Petit led with her eight kills, .444 hitting percentage and 9.5 points. She also had two digs and two total blocks. Junior
Corinne Cox was first with 13 assists, senior
Zoe Leonard had 10 digs, and both sophomore
Tola Akinwumi and freshman

Â
"I thought we played one of our more resilient matches on the road this year against a very good team," head coach
Gilad Doron said. "Our young players had a chance to learn a valuable lesson on how to play in a hostile environment tonight. We will be tested again tomorrow versus a tough Brown team, and if we keep our composure and play with energy and focus, we can find success."
After battling back-and-forth through the first few points, Yale started to pull away and soon had a four-point lead (8-4). A little later in the set, Dartmouth took advantage of three straight Yale errors to pull within one (12-11), but another Bulldog run put the home team up by four once again (18-14). While kills by Akinwumi and junior
Abby Kott made it a one-point set again (18-17), a 6-1 Yale rally quickly wrapped things up (25-19).
Â
Dartmouth controlled the start of the second set and, following kills by freshman
Nicole Liddle, Meldrum and Petit, had a 6-2 advantage. The Big Green extended their lead one point further until they had a 10-5 edge, but the Bulldogs rallied to steal the lead (17-12). Dartmouth won five of the next six points to make it an 18-17 set, but six in a row put Yale at set point (24-17). The Green got two points closer before the Bulldogs took set two (25-19).
Â
The Bulldogs jumped out to 12-3 advantage in the third set, but a host of Yale errors and kills by Petit, freshman
Emma Moffet and senior
Samantha Bozoian got Dartmouth back in the game (12-9). The home team ran away with that lead before kills by Bozoian and freshman
Annemarie Horn made it a close set (22-18), but Yale's 3-1 run shut the match down (25-19).

Dartmouth will return to action on Saturday with a 5 p.m. match at Brown.
