PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Dartmouth women's tennis sophomores
Abigail Chiu and
Madison Hwang competed in the qualifying draw of the Riviera/ITA Women's All-America Championship on Tuesday, falling to their doubles opponents from Notre Dame.
The Big Green duo played against Cameron Corse and Zoe Pence and fought hard, but fell to the Fighting Irish pair by a score of 8-7(5).
"We competed at a very high level today," head coach
Bob Dallis said after the match. "They represented Dartmouth and the Ivy League extremely well."
The championship, which features the nation's top Division I women's players in the country, is taking place at the Riviera Tennis Club for the 34th consecutive year. In addition to vying for the All-America national title, players are also competing to secure a berth into the 2018 Oracle/ITA National Fall Championship, from Nov. 7-11 in Surprise, Arizona.
Chiu and Hwang will play a consolation match on Wednesday.
