HANOVER, N.H. – On Homecoming in front of a packed Burnham Field, the Dartmouth men's soccer team defeated Harvard, 2-0, Saturday night. Senior
Eduvie Ikoba made his home debut in just his fifth game of the season and made an impact with two goals for the Big Green.
Dartmouth (5-5-5, 2-1-2 Ivy) outshot Harvard (3-11-0, 1-4-0 Ivy) 22-8 and 11-2 on goal. The Big Green held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks. With the win, Dartmouth remains unbeaten at home with one match left to play on Burnham Field.
Dartmouth began the match on the attack with six unanswered shots in the first 18 minutes of action. That intensity paid off in the 22nd minute when a foul was called on the Crimson in the box, setting up a penalty kick. Ikoba faked out the keeper for an easy score to make it 1-0 Dartmouth, It was Ikoba's first goal of the season.
Harvard put the pressure on for the remainder of the half but could not find a clean look on goal as their shots either sailed high or wide of the net. Dartmouth took the 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Ikoba struck again in the 56th minute, this time on a spinning shot off an assist from
Yima Asom to bring the Big Green lead to 2-0.
The Big Green closed out the remainder of the match by outshooting Harvard 11-4, securing the victory in dominating fashion.
Dartmouth is on the road next for its final away match of the regular season when they take on No. 22 Cornell on Saturday at 5p.m.
