DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week - Borinsky & Graber
11/1/2018 11:34:00 AM | Men's Ice Hockey, Women's Soccer, Athletics
With the weather in Hanover getting colder, the outdoor sports are winding up and the indoor sports are heating up. Junior Will Graber led the men's hockey team to an exciting, 7-6, overtime win against Ivy rival Harvard. On the soccer pitch, Remy Borinsky helped send the Crimson home unhappy, beating them outside on a rainy, blustery afternoon.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Will Graber, Jr., Broomfield, Colo., F, Men's Hockey
The top-line center on the Dartmouth men's hockey team was the leading scorer a season ago and got off to a strong start in the 2018-19 Saturday night against Harvard. Graber scored once on the power play and dished out 2 assists for three points in the 7-6 overtime win. The OT winner started as a result of Graber's strong forecheck that caused a Harvard turnover that led to the sudden-death winner just 18 seconds into the extra frame.
Remy Borinsky, Sr., Warren, N.J., MF, Women's Soccer
Borinsky was involved in all three goals for the Big Green against Harvard. After falling behind 1-0, Borinsky picked up her first assist of the match when she and Hayley Soriano found Erin Kawakami in the 50th minute for the equalizer. She then found Izzy Glennon in the 73rd minute who sent the ball home to give the Big Green a 2-1 advantage.
Â
A senior from Warren, N.J., Borinsky finished the match in style with a long goal in the 82nd minute to complete the victory and help Dartmouth to its ninth win of the season.
Â
Borinsky has set a new career high with six goals and five assists this season and is fourth in the Ivy League with 17 points.
