ETNA, N.H. - The Dartmouth equestrian team hosted the last of its two home shows of the fall season on Saturday at Morton Farm. The Big Green claimed fourth in a field of 11 teams, with Vermont taking first and continuing to lead the region.
The day was off to a good start with captain
Olivia Champ winning her Open Fences class. Following her,
Staci Mannella had a strong showing in Intermediate Fences that led her to victory.
Co-captain
Erin McCarthy-Keeler also had a strong ride in Intermediate Fences claiming second place. Sophomores
Emily Slusher and
Shira Hornstein placed second in their respective classes of Intermediate Fences and Novice Fences. With a second-place finish at the home show, Hornstein accumulated the necessary points to qualify for regionals in the spring and has classed up to Intermediate Fences.
With some strong winds and pouring rain, the show entered the flat portion of the competition in the afternoon. Freshman
Claire Azar was victorious in her Open Flat class, taking home a blue ribbon. Slusher had another successful ride, claiming second place in Intermediate Flat. Team manager
Suehayla Mohieldin also had a strong ride claiming second in Novice Flat. Along with her, freshman
Tori Bergstein placed second in her Novice Flat class.

Sophia Arana, continued to push back competition with second-place finishes in Advanced Walk Trot Canter and Beginner Walk Trot Canter, respectively.
