HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth sophomore
Chris Knight was named the Ivy League Player of the Week by the conference office this afternoon after averaging 20 points and 7.5 rebounds last week for the Big Green. This is his second weekly honor from the Ivy League having been the Rookie of the Week 364 days ago during his freshman campaign.
A 6-7, 225-pound forward from Madison, Wisconsin, Knight began his week by scoring a career-high 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting in a 64-59 home loss to Quinnipiac last Wednesday evening. He followed that up with his second career double-double with 17 points and a personal-best 12 rebounds to help Dartmouth cruise past Maine on Saturday afternoon, 78-52, the largest margin of victory for the Big Green against a Division I opponent in five years.
For the week, Knight shot 50 percent from the floor (18-for-36) and his only 3-point attempt to achieve his 20-point average in the two games. He also added four assists, a block and a pair of steals to his ledger. For the season, Knight leads Dartmouth with 15.7 points per game (sixth in the Ivy League) and 7.1 rebounds a night (fourth), plus is tied for the team lead with 12 blocked shots.
Dartmouth (5-5) is currently finishing up its noon matinee against Sacred Heart (4-5).
