CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In Sunday's series finale the Dartmouth softball team bounced back after falling in both games on Saturday to take a 3-1 win over Harvard on the road.
Following the win, the Big Green even out to 16-16 overall with a 10-5 Ivy League record while the Crimson improve to 20-13 overall with a 13-5 conference mark, as Harvard remains in first place and Dartmouth is now second in the league.
The road team only needed one hit to take the win, as freshman McKenna Gray hit a three-run homer in the top of the first after Micah Schroder and Schae Nelson had been walked.
Senior Breanna Ethridge started the day on the mound where she threw three innings allowing two hits and one run with one error and four strikeouts. Freshman Heather Turner came in for the final four innings, where she allowed just one hit as the game came to a close.
The Crimson scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth when Erin Lockhart hit a double to deep right field batting in Maddy Kaplan who was on third base after advancing on a wild pitch. In the fifth the home team would see a batter single to center but she never advanced past first base.
Sunday's win is the first time the Big Green have taken a win in the series since May of 2016 when they hosted the final two games of the series and won by one run.
Dartmouth returns to action at home this weekend, hosting Yale in a three-game series beginning on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in doubleheader action at the Dartmouth Softball Park.
