HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth College Director of Athletics and Recreation Harry Sheehy today announced the hiring of Jennifer Chuks as associate athletics director for peak performance.
Chuks brings five years of collegiate coaching and 10 years of administrative experience to the position. She has spent the past eight years at Williams College, arriving as an NCAA Internship recipient to serve as an assistant women's basketball coach and an athletics administrator. She is currently an assistant athletics director and assistant professor of physical education, overseeing the captains leadership training and the emerging leaders program, working as the liaison to the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) and the NCAA for information and awards, and serving as the co-director for the first-year fall student-athlete orientation program.
"I am very excited that Jen is joining our DP2 staff, as she has a deep understanding of college athletics from the perspective of student-athlete, coach, and athletics administrator," said Sheehy. "Her talent, experience, and passion for working with student-athletes make her a perfect match for DP2."
A 2006 graduate of the University of Hartford, Chuks earned a degree in psychology while also playing Division I basketball for the Hawks. She went on to earn her MBA with a concentration in management of sport industries from the University of New Haven, serving as a graduate assistant in membership and marketing there in addition to a four-month internship in the programming department at ESPN. Chuks went on to spend a year as an assistant coach of women's basketball at Merrimack College, and held a four-month internship in the department as a compliance assistant.
Throughout her professional career, Chuks has served on numerous committees, including the NCAA Division III Championships Committee since January of 2015, taking over as the chair at the start of 2018.
Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) was launched in 2011 as a ground-breaking initiative for the integration of services and resources targeted at helping varsity student-athletes achieve the highest levels of physical, intellectual, and personal growth during their Dartmouth careers. The innovative program includes academic counseling, faculty advising, sports medicine, strength training, sports psychology, nutrition, integrative health, leadership training, team building, career planning, community engagement, analytics and sports science.
As a senior member of the DP2 staff, Chuks will direct the Career Connections program, oversee integrative health offerings, and coordinate community service engagement. She will also supervise several varsity sports and help coordinate event management for the department.
