HANOVER, N.H. – Senior
Alyssa Baker scored her second goal of the season in the 5-1 loss to No. 8 Colgate at Thompson Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Freshmen
Chloe Puddifant and
Lotti Odnoga assisted to also end the game with a point. Senior netminder
Shannon Ropp had her first start of the season, making 24 saves in all.
The teams played a very even first period, with Colgate (14-6-4, 8-2-2) coming away with a slight 7-4 shot advantage in the scoreless opening frame. After the Raiders were kept out of the net during the first (which has only happened five other times this season), they went on to score four goals in the second.
Dartmouth (3-15-1, 2-10-0) looked stronger in the third period, taking more chances to try and get on the board. At 16:54, Colgate added its fifth of the game, but the Green got one back just over a minute later when Baker got one past netminder Julia Vandyk. Thirty seconds into the power play, the senior's shot bounced off Vandyk's pads and deflected over her head and into the back of the net before the goalie could react.
The Raiders narrowly outshot the Big Green, 29-26, after Dartmouth had a 12-7 shot advantage in the third. The home team was good on the penalty kill again, as none of Colgate's goals were with the extra player.
For the first time in a month, the Big Green will be on the road, heading North to take on St. Lawrence and Clarkson next weekend.
