Dartmouthsports.com Athletes of the Week - Roberts & Martin

Racquet sports are the theme for this week's athletes of the week. Sophomore Dan Martin led the Big Green men's tennis team to an opening win over Kentucky in the ITA opening weekend tournament. Senior Emma Roberts swept her opponent, giving the women's squash team a win on the road at St. Lawrence

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Dan Martin, So., Laval, Quebec, Men's Tennis

Men's tennis went 1-1 at the ITA Kickoff Weekend, defeating Kentucky before falling to No. 14 Columbia. Against Kentucky, the Big Green were down, 3-0, before coming back to win by a score of 4-3. Dan Martin clinched the match with his 6-4, 7-5 victory over Enzo Wallart at the No. 2 spot.

Emma Roberts, Sr., Wellesley, Mass., Women's Squash

Emma Roberts helped her team to their first 9-0 victory of the season at St. Lawrence on Sunday. Playing in the number eight slot, Roberts defeated Abigail Smith, 11-8, 11-2 and 11-6. The win gave the senior a 6-2 record on the season. Overall, it was a strong day for the women's squash team as each member of the team came away with 3-0 sweeps.
