PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Dartmouth men's tennis team went 6-1 on the first day of the ITA Northeast Regional Championship at Penn on Friday, winning all of its singles matches.

In doubles action, juniors
Peter Conklin and
Dan Martin had an 8-1 win over their opponents from St. John's. Freshmen
Anders Gibbons and
Alejandro Quiles kept it very close, but ultimately fell to a pair from Buffalo by a score of 8-7.

Junior
John Speicher faced Sanil Jagtiani of Drexel, winning the match, 7-6(7), 6-1, while Gibbons had a three-set victory over his opponent from Marist, dropping the first set, 6-4, before coming back to win the remaining two, 6-3, 6-4.

Quiles had a 7-6, 6-1 defeat of Lehigh's Harry Wang, while senior
David Horneffer took down a player from Hofstra by scores of 6-4, 7-5 and sophomore
Pierce Widdecombe had a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Hans Ohrner of Wagner.

The Big Green will be back for day two of regionals on Saturday.
