Dartmouth Competes at Both Regionals and Brown Invitational

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Dartmouth women's tennis had a busy Saturday, competing at both the ITA Northeast Regional Championship in West Point and the Brown Invitational in Providence.

Regionals was highlighted by freshman Ashley Hess' pair of singles victories to advance to the Round of 16. She first defeated No. 9-16 seed Guzal Yusupova of Syracuse, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 before going on to down Fordham's Valeria Deminova, 6-1, 5-7, 6-1.

At Brown, the Big Green went 3-0 in doubles and 8-4 in singles action. In doubles, senior Catherine Cable and sophomore Nina Paripovic had a 6-0 win over a pair from UMass, while senior Allison McCann and freshman Emily Zhou downed a duo from Yale, 6-1.

In singles, Guan, Paripovic, McCann and Peng all went 1-1, while Cable and Zhou won both of their matches. Cable first defeated Ashley Avery of UMass, 6-1, 6-0, before beating Brown's Peri Sheinin, 6-7(4), 6-0, 10-7. Zhou had a 6-1, 6-0 win over Tami Comins of UMass and went on to defeat the Minutewomen's Sarah Mezini, 6-0, 6-2 later in the day.

The Big Green will be back in action on Sunday.
