The Dartmouth equestrian team faced off against 10 other schools at the University of New Hampshire last Saturday. After tough competition throughout the day, Dartmouth claimed its first team win of the season.
The highlight of the day was sophomore
Claire Azar taking home the distinction of High Point Rider of the entire competition after a first-place showing in her Open Fences class and a second-place finish in her Open Flat class. Junior
Shira Hornstein help start the day off strong and swept her Intermediate Fences class, taking home a well-deserved first place as well.
The team practically swept the competition with mostly top-three placings throughout the day. Sophomore
Sophie Kylander claimed second after a great ride in the Limit Fences division. In addition, senior
Meghan Poth demonstrated a beautiful ride in a competitive Intermediate Flat class, also taking home a second-place finish. Sophomore
Sabrina Jain helped secure necessary points with a fantastic performance in Novice Flat and ended up second in her class. Jain's performance also qualified her for a spot in the Regional competition for Limit Flat and pointed her up into Intermediate Flat. Freshman
Melody Fu also rose to the challenge and kept the second-place streak alive with her spot in her Pre-Novice class. Sophomore
Maria Roodnitsky closed the day and secured the team win in the Introductory division thanks to another second-place showing.
Other highlights included sophomore
Tori Bergstein with a strong third-place finish in Intermediate fences and freshman
Gemma Tung using a great ride in Limit Flat to also take third. In the Novice division, senior and team captain
Alexa Tucker and junior Liza Begunova received a notable third place in each of their respective classes. The team's win secured necessary points to tighten the margin in regional point standings.
