HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's tennis team returned to the court for day two of its home invitational on Saturday.
Freshman
Alejandro Quiles had a good day, winning both doubles matches with classmate
Anders Gibbons and his singles match.
"This was a tough day for the guys against some good competition," head coach
Xander Centenari said. "The guys are competing hard and doing a great job of incorporating things that we've been working on in practice. Results today weren't where we want them to be, but everyone is hungry for another shot tomorrow."
In doubles, Quiles and Gibbons had 6-3 victories over duos from Harvard and Brown, while senior
David Horneffer and sophomore
Pierce Widdecombe won their match against players from Cornell by a score of 6-2. Juniors
Peter Conklin and
John Speicher downed a pair from Bryant, 6-0.
Conklin also went undefeated, beating Cornell's Joseph McAllister by scores of 6-2, 6-3. Quiles won his first set against the Big Red's Pietro Rimondini, 6-2, and was leading in the second set when his opponent retired.
Day three of the Dartmouth Invitational will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
