HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's tennis team kicked off the annual three-day Big Green Invite on Friday by facing Yale and a few players from UMass in doubles and singles action.
Dartmouth won two of its doubles matches. Sophomores
Jingyi Peng and
Nina Paripovic had a 6-1 victory over Yale's Sarah Cameron and Lauren Gillinov, while seniors
Chuyang Guan and
Catherine Cable defeated UMass' Jovana Bogicevic and Anna Napadiy, 6-3.
One of the Green's singles matches went to three sets, while another two went to tiebreak. Cable dropped her first set to the Bulldogs' Vivian Cheng, 6-1, before rebounding to win the remaining two, 6-2, 6-1. Taking on UMass' Shiran Arol Wiegand, freshman
Emily Zhou had a 6-4, 6-2 win.
Dartmouth will be back for day two on Saturday, playing doubles against UMass at 2 p.m., and singles and doubles against St. John's later in the day.
