PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Dartmouth women's hockey started its road weekend with a 2-2 tie against Brown at Meehan Auditorium Friday.
Sophomore
Gabby Billing led the team with two assists, while classmate
Lotti Odnoga and freshman
Catherine Trevors had a goal each. Fellow rookie
Georgia Kraus picked up her first collegiate point by assisting on the first marker.
In net, rookie
Hannah Humphreys had a 23-save performance.
The game started slowly and neither team maintained possession for long. Odnoga opened scoring at 8:20, netting her first goal of the season following a delayed Brown penalty, with assists going to Billing and Kraus.
Although they were trailing in shots, the Green held on to their lead until 11:20 of the second, when Megan Forrest got the home team on the board. The tie lasted all of 18 seconds before Trevors' fourth of the year put Dartmouth (3-6-2, 1-3-2) back in front.
The Bears were kept at bay for the first half of the third period, but Abby Nearis' power-play tally at 9:51 tied things up yet again. Dartmouth had some nice chances, but Brown (1-10-1, 1-5-1) managed to get in the way of the majority of them, keeping the game locked at two. Junior
Jennifer Costa tried her luck, but hit the post and, for the second time this season, the Big Green and the Bears went to overtime.
Humphreys shined in the extra period, making back-to-back saves to keep the game locked at two. The teams were even with four shots apiece, but both netminders were perfect, and the contest ended in a tie.
Brown had a 25-21 shot advantage and went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Dartmouth missed out on both opportunities.
The Big Green will be back in action on Saturday when they take on Yale at 3 p.m.
