12/9/2019 3:12:00 PM | Men's Ice Hockey, Women's Ice Hockey, Athletics
The Big Green hockey teams are continuing to represent Dartmouth athletics while many of their classmates are at home enjoying a much-needed break from school. In Thompson arena Saturday night the men's team upset the No. 2 team in the country with a 2-1 win over Cornell. Senior Adrian Clark had 39 saves in the game. Meanwhile the women's team was on the road and came away with a 2-2 tie with Brown. Sophomore Gabby Billing did her part with assists on both goals.Â
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Cape Air Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Cape Air Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Adrian Clark, Sr., Toronto, Ontario, G, Men's Hockey
The senior netminder was outstanding in Dartmouth's stunning 2-1 win over No. 2 Cornell on Saturday night at Thompson Arena. Clark made 32 saves in the final two periods, including 21 in the third period to hold off the Big Red, handing Cornell its first loss of the season (10-0-0) and halting the best start by any ECAC Hockey team in the last four years. Clark played well against the rival team from Ithaca but was also aided greatly by 19 blocks from his teammates in front of him.
Gabby Billing, So., Corcoran, Minn., F, Women's Hockey
Sophomore Gabby Billing had a three-point weekend on the road, assisting on both of Dartmouth's goals in the 2-2 tie against Brown on Friday before being credited with the Big Green's lone goal in the 3-1 loss to Yale the following afternoon. She currently leads the team with 10 points.
