BULLDOGS AND BEARS
Dartmouth is back at Leede Arena for an important weekend against Yale on Friday and Brown on Saturday. The Big Green will look to avenge their road loss to the Bulldogs and stay perfect against the Bears.
FRIDAY NIGHT VS. PENN
- Things did not go the way the Big Green envisioned last weekend as they fell to Penn and Princeton, the two top teams in the Ivy League, at home.
- Friday night, Dartmouth suffered a 60-44 loss to the Quakers.
- The Big Green played a solid first quarter and only trailed, 13-12 at the end of one. The second quarter hurt Dartmouth as they were outscored 18-5 and could not catch up for the rest of the game.
- Cy Lippold was the only member of the Big Green in double figures as she tied the game high with 19 points, knocking down five 3-pointers in the process.
- Isalys Quinones and Kealy Brown both chipped in seven points. Quinones also pulled down five rebounds.
- For Penn, Ashley Russell finished with 19 points and eight rebounds, Princess Aghayere had 13 points and 11 boards and Eleah Parker finished with 12 points and five rebounds.
SATURDAY NIGHT VS. PRINCETON
- Dartmouth raced out of the gates and led 20-6 at the end of the first quarter, but Bella Alarie, the Ivy League's top scorer, scored 23 points in the second to bring the Tigers back into the game.
- Alarie finished with 41 points and 13 rebounds and earned her sixth Ivy Player of the Week award and third straight.
- The Big Green stayed in the game and only trailed by five with 2:01 left in regulation but the Tigers held on.
- For Dartmouth, Quinones led the team with 22 points on 7-11 shooting, she also grabbed six rebounds. 15 of her points came in the fourth quarter.
- Kealy Brown finished with 14 points and Katie Douglas had 11, sinking three 3-pointers.
SCOUTING YALE
- Yale has had a strong season with a 15-8 overall record. In conference, the Bulldogs sit in third place at 5-3 with Ivy losses to Brown (86-71), Penn (54-48) and most recently Cornell (43-41).
- Two big wins in conference for the Bulldogs were Harvard (65-62) and Princeton (96-86 OT).
- Yale is led by Roxy Barahman, the junior is second in the Ivy League with 19.7 ppg, she also pulls down 6.8 rpg and dishes out 4.1 apg.
- Camilla Emsbo is the only other Bulldog to average double figures, the highly touted freshman scores 12.5 ppg and is third in the conference with 8.0 rpg. Emsbo has won the Rookie of the Week award six times.
- Tori Andrew averages 8.9 ppg for the Bulldogs.
- Yale is a strong rebounding team, they are third in the Ivy League with 42.4 rpg as a team.
LAST GAME AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
- Yale came out on top, 64-49, on Feb. 2 at the Lee Amphitheater in New Haven.
- Dartmouth started slow and found themselves trailing, 22-12 at the end of the first and could not make up that ground.
- Lippold led the team with 14 points and six assists, she recorded her 250th career assist in the game and moved into the top-10 on the all-time assists list at Dartmouth.
- Quinones was also in double figures with 13 points, Annie McKenna finished with eight points, seven rebounds and four assists.
- Freshman Georgia Alexander had a strong performance with seven points and five rebounds.
- For Yale, Alex Cade finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Emsbo has 15 points and six boards.
- The Big Green held Barahman to just 11 points, her third lowest total of the season. Â
ALL-TIME AGAINST YALE
- Dartmouth has also had success over Yale in the all-time series, the Big Green lead it, 53-30.
- The Big Green hold a narrow, 20-19 record over the Bulldogs since 2000.
- But Dartmouth is 3-16 against Yale since 2010.
SCOUTING BROWN
- After winning its first Ivy League game over Yale on Jan.18, the Bears have struggled, losing seven straight and find themselves in the basement of the conference at 1-7.
- In conference play the Bears are averaging 69.1 ppg and are allowing 82.5 ppg so they are being outscored by 13.4 ppg by Ivy opponents.
- Overall, Brown leads the conference in scoring with 72.7 ppg but they allow the most points with 77.1 ppg.
- Four players score in double figures for the Bears, they are Justine Gaziano (18.8 ppg), Shayna Mehta (17.1 ppg), Taylor Will (11.3 ppg) and Erika Steeves (10.4 ppg).
LAST GAME AGAINST THE BEARS
- On Feb, 2, Dartmouth outscored Brown 24-7 in the fourth quarter in Providence to come away with an 81-61 victory.
- Katie Douglas nailed a three with seven minutes left in the game, sparking a 21-0 run over the next six minutes where Quinones scored seven points.
- All-in-all, the Big Green outscored the Bears 24-2 to end the game.
- Paula Lenart recorded a double-double with 14 points and a career high 17 rebounds.
- Anna Luce set a career high with 22 points in 21 minutes.
- Quinones finished with 13 points and six rebounds, while Lippold had 12 points and seven assists.
- Elle Louie had six points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
- For Brown, Mehta had 17 points and Will finished with 10.
ALL-TIME AGAINST BROWN
- Dartmouth has dominated the all-time series over Brown, holding a 58-28 advantage dating back to 1978.
- Since this year's senior class started at Dartmouth in 2015, the Big Green are 6-1 over the Bears.
- Since 2000, the Big Green have held a 27-13 advantage over Brown.
ICE IN THE FOURTH
- At Columbia and home against Princeton, Ice Quinones has taken over in the fourth quarter.
- In New York, Quinones had 12 points in the final quarter including two free throws with 4.7 seconds left to give the Big Green a big road win.
- In the last game against Princeton, Quinones scored 15 of her 22 points in the fourth which included nine straight points to keep the Big Green in the game.
