HANOVER, N.H. – A night after skating to a 2-0 win, the Dartmouth men's hockey team was dealt a loss Saturday by just that same score thanks to visiting Brown.
Â
In the regular season's final game played at Thompson Arena, the Bears (11-11-5, 8-7-5 ECAC) picked up a pair of league points to tie the Big Green (10-13-4, 9-8-3 ECAC) in the standings. By virtue of a season sweep of the Green and White, though, Brown owns any tiebreaker if these two were to finish next weekend's final games with the same number of points.
Â
Despite the shutout loss, there was good news for the team in green. Thanks to a Colgate win in overtime against RPI, Dartmouth guaranteed that it will host a playoff series in 2019 with that most likely coming in the first round (Mar. 8-10).
Â
As for Saturday's result, Brown came away winners thanks to a second-period power-play goal from Tommy Marchin, a third-period insurance marker from Brady Schoo and a 30-save shutout from goalie Luke Kania.
Â
Kania stopped 22 over the final two periods, including a late sprawling glove save to deny a Dartmouth bid on the man-advantage.
Â
Junior netminder
Adrian Clark played well and stopped 23, while allowing just the two goals, but didn't get the goal support at the other end to overcome the pair.
Â
Dartmouth will close out the regular season next weekend at Union and Rensselaer with seeding and postseason match-ups still very much in the air.
Following the game, the Class of 2019 was honored on Senior Night, celebrating the contributions over the course of their playing careers.
