Their efforts are rewarded by being named the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Adrian Clark, Jr., Toronto, Ontario, GK, Men's Hockey
Adrian Clark turned in another outstanding weekend in net for the Dartmouth men's hockey team. The Big Green's junior netminder turned aside 28 shots in Friday's 2-0 win over Yale to earn his fifth shutout of 2018-19. Clark tied the program's single-season record with that fifth shutout of the year, matching him with Chester Gale, who accomplished the feat in 1919-20, some 99 seasons before Clark. The second shutout of Yale was also a first for Dartmouth as it had never held the Bulldogs scoreless in a regular season after Clark posted a 3-0 shutout in New Haven back in November. He ranks third in the nation and first in ECAC Hockey with those five shutouts this season.Â
ÂMackenzie Stumpf, So., Palm Harbor, Fla., IM/Breast, Women's Swimming
Mackenzie Stumpf won the 200 breaststroke at the Ivy League Championship (2:11.94), becoming the first Dartmouth swimmer to win the event since 1997. Throughout the weekend, she broke three of her own program records in the 100 and 200 breast and 200 IM and was part of the 200 and 400 medley relays that also took down school records. The Big Green finished in sixth, their highest finish since 2013.
