HANOVER, N.H. — The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the
Google Cloud Academic All-America Teams for Division I men's basketball today, and Dartmouth guard
James Foye was selected for the second team. He is the first Big Green player to be chosen for one of the teams in men's basketball in 22 years.
An economics major with a 3.96 GPA, Foye was a consistent force for Dartmouth at both ends of the court this season, starting all 30 games. The junior tri-captain was third on the team averaging 10.8 points a game while shooting 48.2 percent from the floor, 42.9 percent from the perimeter and 80.6 percent at the foul line. In addition, the native of Hamilton, Massachusetts, registered an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.0 (72 assists, 24 turnovers) while hauling in 3.2 rebounds a night, plus is second on the team with 21 steals. Three times he topped 20 points in a game, including a career-high 25 with seven 3-pointers at Brown on Feb. 23.
"James epitomizes what a leader and a student-athlete should be on all levels," Big Green head coach
David McLaughlin said. "This honor simply confirms what we see every day from him at Dartmouth — an elite work ethic in the classroom and on the court every day. There is no doubt in my mind that he will not take this honor for granted and that he will continue to put in the work to represent Dartmouth at the highest level."
Foye is the ninth Big Green player to be honored as an Academic All-American, two of whom picked up the honor twice — John Mackay in 1989 and '90, and Sea Lonergan in 1996 and '97. Lonergan had been the last Dartmouth selection prior to Foye.
One other Ivy Leaguer was named to one of the three teams; Zach Hunsaker of Brown was listed on the second team with Foye.
