ALBANY, N.Y. – Dartmouth sophomore
Quin Foreman and freshman
Drew O'Connor have earned weekly honors from the ECAC Hockey, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Â
Foreman was tabbed as the ECAC Hockey Men's Player of the Week, while O'Connor was named the league's top rookie for the third time this season and the second time in as many weeks.
Â
The Big Green forwards put up impressive numbers in Dartmouth's first-round win over St. Lawrence that culminated in an 8-0 victory in Game 3 Sunday night at Thompson Arena.
Â
For Foreman, this is his second ECAC Hockey weekly award after winning rookie honors last February. The sophomore's recognition as the league's top player in the first round comes on the heels of a seven-point (2-5-7) weekend against the Saints.
Â
Those seven points were the most of any player in the league this weekend and the second most by any player in Division I. Foreman would have tied for the league lead in points this weekend had he only played the second frame of Game 3 in which he scored once and assisted on three others for a four-point period.
Â
With the strong weekend, Foreman now leads the team in both assists (14) and points (26).
Â
O'Connor continues to be dominant late in his rookie campaign as he scored in each of the team's three games this weekend. The now two-time reigning ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week has six goals in his last five games. Those six markers in March are tied for the most by any player in Division I and twice as many as any other rookie in the country.
Â
His 16 goals this season not only lead Dartmouth, but are also the most by any first-year player in ECAC Hockey and second in the nation amongst freshmen players. Since the start of January, O'Connor leads all ECAC rookies in goals (10), points (15) and game winners (2). Only 11 players in the country have more goals than the Big Green forward since the start of 2019.
Â
Foreman, O'Connor and the rest of the fifth-seeded Dartmouth men's hockey team will play at fourth-seeded Harvard this weekend in the conference quarterfinals. Games 1 and 2 on Friday and Saturday will be played at 7 p.m., while a possible third game would start at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
