Their efforts are rewarded by being named the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Matt Paul, So., Weston, Mass., A, Men's Lacrosse
In Dartmouth's 11-7 victory over Binghamton at home on Saturday, Matt Paul led both teams with five points from a hat trick and two assists. Paul assisted on the first goal of the game before getting an unassisted tally of his own at the seven minute mark of the first quarter. With the Big Green lead at three at halftime Binghamton scored to cut the lead to two before Paul got his second of the game to push the lead back to three. With eleven seconds to go in the third he scored his third of the day off a pretty feed from Harlan Smart. The Weston, Massachusetts native also scooped up 16 ground balls, which was good for second.
Katie Bourque, Jr., Ridgewood, N.J., M, Women's Lacrosse
Coming off a 15-day hiatus, Bourque and her teammates returned to action on Scully-Fahey Field on Sunday and made a statement with a 19-7 win against UMass. Bourque led the way with four goals and five points in the win, accounting for a third of her total points this season in just one game. Bourque is already halfway to her goal total (28) from a season ago in less than half the time. Bourque has scored in all six games this season with her four goals against the Minutewomen matching her career high.
