NEW YORK, N.Y. – Dartmouth was swept by Columbia on Sunday, losing 9-1 in six innings and 6-4. The Big Green drop to 3-17 and 0-3 in the Ivy League, while the Lions get to .500 and are now 10-10 on the season and 3-0 in conference.
Game One:
In game two of the three game series at Columbia, the Lions used their bats come out on top with a 9-1 walk-off victory in six innings.

Dartmouth jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when
Calista Almer led off the game with a double down the left field line.
Schae Nelson advanced Almer to third and
Morgan Martinelli brought in the run with an RBI groundout.

Shelby Wilkison had a solid start in the circle, the sophomore did not allow a hit until the third inning. That was the same inning that the momentum shifted Columbia's way. A walk and hit batter eventually put runners on second and third for the Lions and Max Ortega drilled a two-out double to score both runners, giving the Lions a 2-1 advantage.

Four more runs crossed the plate in the fifth for Columbia to put the Lions ahead 6-1. The runs scored on an RBI fielder's choice, a bases loaded walk and back-to-back RBI singles.

One swing of the bat put the run rule in place in the sixth. With two outs, a Dartmouth error and a base hit put two runners on and Abby Stuart tok advantage by crushing a three-run home run to give Columbia a 9-1 lead and finish the game.

Game Two:
Columbia secured the series sweep as it defeated Dartmouth, 6-4, in the final game of the day.
Billie McFadyen went 2-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored, while
Calista Almer also finished 2-4 with a run scored.
Morgan Martinelli drove in two runs and
Schae Nelson smacked a triple in the first inning.

This time it was Columbia who was aggressive at the plate early and capitalized by scoring two runs in the first. With one out and a runner on second, consecutive doubles by Max Ortega and Abby Stuart made it a 2-0 Lions lead.

Columbia tacked on one more in the third on a sacrifice fly to take a 3-0 advantage.

It was base running that gave the Big Green their first run of the game in the fourth inning. With one out and runners on the corners,
Tatyanah Castillo got herself into a pickle between first and second, allowing McFadyen to break for the plate and slide in safely.

Dartmouth made it a one-run game in the fifth when there was one out and runners on first and second. McFadyen singled up the middle to score Almer, later in the inning, Martinelli drove in McFadyen and Castillo with a base hit to bring the score to 5-4.

Columbia added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out double to take a 6-4 advantage.

Micah Schroder singled in the seventh, but the Big Green could not score two runs to extend the game.

Dartmouth will now look forward to its home opener when the Big Green host the Penn Quakers. The doubleheader on Saturday begins at 12:30 p.m. at the Dartmouth Softball Complex. Â Â
