TIME AND DATE CHANGES
Due to impending rain, the series has been pushed up a day. There will now be a doubleheader on Friday at 2 and 4 p.m. and a single game will be played on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
HOME OPENER
Dartmouth Softball Park will be a welcome sight as the Big Green play a game on their home field for the first time in 2019.
AGAINST COLUMBIA
- Dartmouth was swept in its first Ivy League series of the season at Columbia, losing 5-4 on Saturday, 9-1 in six innings in game two on Sunday and 6-4 in game three.
- The Big Green led 4-1 after three and half innings in game one, but allowed four runs in the second half to fall 5-4. Morgan Martinelli smacked an RBI double in the second inning and Tessa Grossman hit her first career home run in the fourth. Madie Augusto struck out nine batters in 5.1 innings. Amanda Nishihira went 2-3 with three RBI and a run scored for Columbia.
- Dartmouth fell 9-1 in six innings in game two. Martinelli drove in the first run of the game with an RBI groundout. From there it was all Columbia as the Lions scored two in the third, four in the fifth and walked it off with a three-run home run off the bat of Abby Stuart in the sixth.
- Columbia led from start to finish in the final game of the series and took it, 6-4. The Lions scored two in the first and one in the second to take a 3-0 advantage. Dartmouth scored its first run on a double steal where Billie McFadyen scored but Columbia added two more in the fourth. The Big Green got two runs in the fifth on RBI singles by McFadyen and Martinelli to make it 5-4. Columbia put it away with an RBI double in the sixth.
SCOUTING PENN
- Penn is currently one game over .500 with an 11-10 record.
- The Quakers have already played two Ivy League series. They dropped two out of three at Yale and won two against Harvard for a 3-3 conference record.
- Penn is most recently coming off a 5-2 loss against Rider where the Quakers committed five errors.
- The Quakers overtook Columbia for the top batting average in the league, hitting .291 as a team.
- Penn has six players hitting above .300 led by Sarah Ketring who is batting .368 but has only played in 16 out of the 21 games. Â
- Sarah Cwiertnia has a .358 batting average with a team leading six doubles and has driven in three runs. Emma Nedley leads the team with three home runs and is hitting .333 with four doubles, a triple and seven RBI.
- Lucy Yang leads the Quakers with 13 RBI and has two home runs and four doubles. Â
- In the circle, Penn is also the best in the Ivy League with a 3.02 team ERA.
- Tabitha Dyer leads the Quakers with a 2.02 ERA in 10 appearances and eight starts. She has a 5-1 record with 21 strikeouts in 45.0 innings of work.
- Jennifer Brann has a 3.14 ERA with a 3-3 record in 11 starts and six starts.
DOMINATING THE HOME OPENERS
- Dartmouth has dominated its home opening series in the last eight seasons.
- Dating back to 2010, the Big Green are 15-3 and have not lost a series in their first weekend at the Dartmouth Softball Park.
- During that time, Dartmouth has swept series against Cornell, Penn, Princeton, Columbia twice and Sacred Heart.
HOME COOKIN'
- The Big Green have found success at home dating back to 2010 with a 75-34 record.
- Dartmouth has been over .500 at the Dartmouth Softball Park in each of the last six years.
- The last losing season at home was in 2012 when the Big Green went 4-8.
