Kaitlyn Lees both carded a 76-73—149 in the first two rounds of the Harvard Invitational at Orange County National on Saturday to help Dartmouth finish the day in fourth place in the eight-team field with a 602 (+26). Princeton (585, +9) holds a three-stroke lead over Penn, while the host Crimson are six strokes ahead of the Big Green in third place.
The Dartmouth duo were tied for 16th in the 48-player field after the first 18 holes but moved up seven places in the standings thanks to shaving three strokes. So did Penn's Christina Park and Princeton's Maya Walton, who both shot 71-68—139 (-5) on the par-72, 6,163-yard course to share the lead at the end of the day.
Junior
Kristen Soh was the Big Green leader after the first round with a 1-over 73 to put her in a tie for fifth, while sophomore
Moon Cheong was two strokes back in a tie for 10th. But both fell back with a 6-over 78 for the second 18, leaving Soh tied for 16th at 7-over and Cheong in 24th at 9-over.
Also competing for Dartmouth were freshman
Kristen Chen in 33rd place (158, +14) and junior
Maddie Nelson, playing as an individual, in a tie for 29th (155, +13).
The third and final round will begin with a shotgun start on Sunday at 8 a.m.
