SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. — After a successful riding season and a second-place finish at last week's Regional Championship, Captain
Olivia Champ represented Dartmouth at the Zone 1 Championship in Open Fences at Mount Holyoke College on Saturday.
Â
An impressive accomplishment, Champ qualified for Zones all four years of her riding career at Dartmouth.
Â
To qualify for Nationals, riders had to finish in first or second in their competitive 10-person class. Champ had an outstanding ride over fences and finished third, narrowly missing out on Nationals.
Â
Co-Captain
Erin McCarthy-Keeler will be representing Dartmouth at Nationals this year in Syracuse for the Teresa McDonald Scholarship Challenge, her third time doing so since joining the Big Green. As a passionate horsewoman, she has mastered skills in horse care and veterinary knowledge, which helped her score as one of the top-two test-takers in all of Zone I.
Â
The team will be competing at Cornell next Sunday for Ivies, with the goal of securing the Ivy Championship title.
