NEWHAVEN, Conn. - The Dartmouth women's track & field team are the 2019 New England Champions after cruising to victory in the final day of the meet Saturday at Southern Connecticut State University.
The Big Green finished with 107 points, 33 more than second-place Rhode Island.
HIGHLIGHTS
Julia Valenti is the New England Champion in the pole vault, winning the event with a 3.91m height. Brooke Brunet was second, thanks to her clearing 3.81m, while Olivia Goodwin took fourth as 23 total points were earned in this one event alone.
Another event winner and New England Champion title went to Caroline Walter in the 400m. The sophomore ran a 55.94 to take the event crown and 10 points.
Dartmouth also got big points in the high jump as three individuals scored with Camille Landon leading the way with her fourth-place showing thanks to her ability to clear 1.68m.
The 1500m saw Breanna Glover (4:27.21) lead the way with a second-place finish with Lauren Archer (4:27.87) and Georgia Fear (4:31.65) taking sixth and seventh, respectively.
The 800m had Dartmouth earn 12 total points thanks to a second-place showing from Claire Dougherty (2:10.11) and Alexa Jennings (2:12.06) in fifth.
Abigail Brazil was third in the 3000m steeplechase, posting an 11:02.72.
Cha'Mia Rothwell took fourth in the long jump as she had a leap of 5.68m to earn five points. Rothwell would also take fifth in the final of the 100m hurdles, crossing in 13.87.
