Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Cape Air Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Cape Air Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Henry Raymond, Jr., Fort Collins, Colo., Distance, Men's Track & Field
For someone who hadn't run all season, the rust was not there for Henry Raymond this weekend at Princeton and the 2019 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship. Raymond began the weekend — and his track season — Saturday by taking first in the prelims of the 1500m in 3:48.51, more than two full seconds ahead of any other competitor. The next day, in the rain and in a physical race, Raymond won his first career Ivy title as he bested the final field of 11 others to cross in 4:05.57. With an Ivy League First Team accolade already to his name, Raymond anchored the 4x800m relay team later in the day, moving up two spots over the final two laps to give he and his teammates second-team honors in the event as the Big Green finished second in 7:35.00.
Cha'Mia Rothwell, Jr., Durham, N.C., Jumps/Hurdles, Women's Track & Field
For the third straight year, the women's outdoor winner in the 100m hurdles was Dartmouth's Cha'Mia Rothwell. The junior became the ninth woman in league history to take the crown in the event at least three times in a career and left the door open to become the third to achieve the career sweep with another win next year. In the rain and on a wet track, Rothwell ran her best time of the season in the final, crossing in 13.53 to take the title. She posted a 13.77 in the prelims a day earlier to qualify second only to pass that time en route to her eighth career Ivy League title between indoor and outdoor seasons.Â
