WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – The Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL announced Thursday afternoon that they had signed former Dartmouth men's hockey alternate captain and defenseman
Connor Yau '19 to a professional contract.
Yau finished his four seasons with the Big Green this past spring, appearing in 125 games, a total that ranks 17th all-time in program history. In those contests, he amassed 49 points on eight goals and 41 assists.
"I can't thank the Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Hockey families enough for the enduring support throughout my four years," Yau said. "I wouldn't' be the person and hockey player I am today without both. Hanover gave me so many memories that I will remember down the line and will forever hold a special place in my heart. With that being said, I can't wait to get things started in Utah."
This past season was Yau's best in a Dartmouth jersey, posting a career-high 16 points and 14 assists, while scoring a pair of goals and appearing in all 34 games and wearing the 'A' on his sweater. His plus-10 rating was the best on the team, as were his six power-play helpers. For his efforts, he earned a spot on the All-Ivy League Second Team.
The lone game-winning goal of Yau's collegiate career will be what many Dartmouth fans remember him for as he notched the overtime winner against No. 7 Yale in the opening game of the 2016 ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal series. Dartmouth would win the following night to sweep the second-seeded Bulldogs and make the Green and White the lone lower seed to advance a round that entire postseason.
The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche with the Colorado Eagles serving as the AHL affiliate.
