ITHACA, N.Y. — Sophomore
Mark Turner carded a 2-over 73 in the third and final round of the Cornell Invitational to finish in 13th place, leading the Dartmouth men's golf team into fifth place. The Big Green ended the tournament with a 292-293-295—880 (+28), 14 strokes behind the team champion, Columbia, which held off Bucknell by a single stroke.
Turner began the day in good shape with birdies on the third and seventh holes to drop to 1-under par for the tournament. But bogeys on four of the final 10 holes dropped him back to 2-over on the day and left him with a final tally of 71-72-73—216 (+3).
Sophomore
Charles Petrie, who was tied for the lead at the conclusion of the opening round, sank four birdies on Sunday but ended up 4-over on the day and 5-over for the tournament with a 69-74-75—218, tied for 17th.
Junior captain
Jason Liu joined Turner with the low Big Green score of the day thanks to four birdies to help him total a 75-72-73—220 (+7) and tie for 24th overall. Liu's classmate,
Sam Ohno, posted his best round of the weekend with a 3-over 74, starting with 10 consecutive pars before sandwiching a birdie between four bogeys over the final eight holes. His 226 (+13) left him tied for 44th, while senior
Riley Griffin rounded out the Dartmouth group with a 241 (+28).
Taking home medalist honors was Michael O'Brien of Saint Joseph's at 6-under for the tournament, thanks to a sizzling 5-under 66 today to overcome a 3-stroke deficit entering the round.
The Big Green return home to host the Dartmouth Invitational next weekend at the Hanover Country Club.
